DigiClips Project for General Public

PublishedCS46X-ECAMPUS Capstone (30 weeks)5 teams

Description

Build the general public tier of the DigiClips media search engine, in Angular 19 or 20, as part of the DigiClips New Version Project. It deploys to AWS Amazon Lightsail at www.digiclipsproject.com/generalpublic.

Specifications: general public, the project itself, its menu, the options page and the search engine presentation notes.

What the tier is

The free tier, funded by advertising rather than subscription. It exists to be useful enough to be worth using and limited enough that a heavy user upgrades, so every limit below is deliberate.

The general public can search, set options and read media results reports, clicking through to stream a segment. They can comment on a segment and hold a conversation about it, and they get language translation.

They do not get detail buttons, report editing, downloads, media analytics, or the email alerts page. A legal disclaimer is required, and so is a route to becoming a subscriber. See general public and subscriber for the comparison.

On the options page, drop the current "Option", "Few Options" and "More Options" split and put the options directly below the search box.

Media to search

All of it at once, or filtered: free to air antenna television across the US over-the-air networks, web streaming media, YouTube TV, radio, podcasts, SiriusXM, newspapers and magazines, social media and blogs. It is fed by the backend processed data.

Generated reports must not contain duplicated words. The sponsor asks that nothing in the media data be missed and that the whole thing stay easy to use, and points at this media monitoring writeup as the thing to fix.

Sign-up and advertising

A new user requests access from the deployed site, an email alert goes to the administrators, and Administration approves them. There are two user types, general public and subscriber.

Advertising on websites covers the ad setup; use placeholder ads for the demonstration.

Objectives

work with other computer science capstone students and to demo the software up on www.digiclipsproject.com/generalpublic

Minimum qualifications

Software to be familiar with would be Ubuntu-Mate 22.04, C, nodejs, react, angular 20 https://angular.dev/ typescript, mysql relational database, putting up on AWS Amazon Lightsail.

We have students work remotely on our local system through digi-frontend for development testing debugging then put up on DigiClips Github and for final deliverable and presentation put up front end on AWS Amazon Lightsail www.digiclipsproject.com

Preferred qualifications

To know about the frontend https://angular.dev/ and also about AWS Amazon Lightsail in the cloud how to put frontend projects up on AWS Amazon Lightsail
